About Thrift-Way Auto Body

Thrift-Way Auto Body is an auto body shop in Hempstead, New York. It is listed at 143 Adams Ave, Hempstead, NY 11550, which places it among the local businesses of Hempstead that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Body shops repair collision damage, dents, rust and paint, and most work directly with insurance companies: you can choose any shop, not only the insurer's preferred one, and the shop will write a supplement if hidden damage turns up. Paintless dent repair fixes hail and door dings without repainting. Detailing shops clean and protect interiors and paint, from a basic wash-and-wax to ceramic coatings and paint protection film. Car washes range from self-service bays to express tunnels with monthly memberships. Upholstery shops repair seats, headliners and convertible tops, and restoration shops bring classic and collector cars back to original or custom condition.

Hempstead is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Hempstead is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I cannot say enough great things about Thriftway Auto and John. After being involved in an accident, I was stressed and worried about what would be a long and frustrating repair process, but John made the entire experience incredibly easy from start to finish. His communication was outstanding, keeping me updated every step of the way, and the service was quick, professional, and completely hassle-free. When I got my car back, it looked absolutely beautiful—like the accident had never even happened. The quality of the work exceeded my expectations, and it was clear that everyone at Thriftway Auto takes tremendous pride in what they do. What could have been an awful experience turned into a smooth and positive one thanks to John and his team. If you’re looking for honest, reliable, and exceptional auto repair, I highly recommend Thriftway Auto.

The staff at Thrift-Way are proficient & skilled. I have to give a shout out to Joe, he was able to weld and repair the frame on my 01' Jeep Wrangler. At a cost I couldn't refuse. Thanks again.

Joe, John, and the rest of the family kept me informed every step of the way and handled everything with the insurance company, which made things so much easier for me. They were efficient, quick, and incredibly professional. When I got my Jeep back, it honestly looked better than ever!
